Please text, I can't answer calls
Hi, my name is Carol Koon, LMT, BA.: I have over 25 years experience in Massage and Medical Massage. My goal is to provide the best massage I can in the Outer Banks for a reasonable price. I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 1997 as a limited Branch of Medicine in Ohio (#33.007529). I have been serving the Outer Banks since 2005 (NC #5703). The Ohio State Medical Board requirements (Anatomy and Physiology) were rigorous and prepared me to work with clients disorders such as: Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Rheumatism, STRESS, anxiety, MS, Cerebral Palsy, Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS and most Soft Tissue Pain. I have done massage in University Hospital of Cleveland on the Oncology Floors and Antepartum Floor. I was even recruited to teach at my Massage school in 2002 which I did even after moving to NC because they were the first to offer an online program! Massage does NOT take the place of Medical Treatment and Ohio is the only state in which massage is a branch of medicine (we're in NC 😁) However; massage can help with circulation, chronic pain disorders, everyday aches and pains that come with aging and/or pregnancy, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and help with healing(Cleveland Clinic, 1990). You don't need an actual medical reason to get a massage but aging has it's share of glitches! I'm over 60 myself! Wow
Note: I FOLLOW ALL STANDARD PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF CONTAGIOUS DISEASES set forth by the CDC for healthcare workers (all therapists are taught to do so even though we're not healthcare workers. Don't get me started on the ironies of law here). Since COVID, I still wear a mask when I'm directly over your face, use UVC air filter. It seems like good practice.
And another NOTE: (I have a sense of humor so I'm making you read all this to get to my price and so you'll feel like you know me!)
I'm not a spa, storefront or any kind of Massage Establishment, so I give the address when your appointment is finalized for privacy reasons. I'm sound-side near MP 6 for reference. Please don't publish my home address! I'm private therapist with 2 loving dogs not a public business. ( If you're good with just me, room on side of house, dogs, old, too educated to do rubs, etc. skip ahead)
Sorry, I can't take last minute appointments - too busy.
So, I apologize that I can no longer sell gift certificates or be a gift or surprise for anyone. That means making an appointment for them too! (That means, no you can't schedule your loved one) I know, other places do but after 27+ years, I still love what I do and I'm sensitive (maybe that's why I'm an intuitive therapist) and whether the person doesn't know my name or seems afraid, or I just wasn't what they expected (a room on the side of my house), it hurts. Massage is too personal and we should decide on the right therapist for ourselves. Again, I may not be what they want, they or you may just want someone to shut up and rub them. Nothing wrong with that but you don't need an experienced therapist for that. I'm trying to avoid burnout and keep loving what I do and I'm too experienced to be bossed around. We therapists are different, massage is an art and science. You shouldn't have to request deep or light, we know what to do depending on the tissue. I understand if you're on vacation and just looking for something to but I consider myself a healer not a service provider, or the massage lady. Chain store massage places and spas have created an image of us as anonymous service providers - like Burger King: order your way.
So, those are who find me are usually looking for a good old fashioned therapeutic massage and did I mention I love my work? I want it to stay that way, so I prefer clients who need me, need my healing hands -- my life's work!
So, if you still like me after all that ⬆️ please send a text, including your NAME and let me know you read this and anything else you think is important, like needing a certain day/ time (please don't ask for my schedule, I'm going to start ignoring those texts, Lol). And, thank you for reading it!
I became a private self-employed therapist in 2016. I'm just a solo therapist who loves what I do!
Swedish Massage is a firm head to toe massage. It's your classic kneading, friction and moving circulation. The art is knowing what client needs. My style is a combination of .....
Deep Tissue or Therapeutic Massage can include Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular/Trigger P,oint Therapy, PNF, ETC. Most all clients are a combination of Swedish and therapeutic. Pressure is about moving the tissue, it varies between clients. You don't need to ask!
I should call it the Goldilocks massage!
Pre- Natal Massage or Pregnancy Massage (my specialty)
Please use your name in text correspondence. Thank You
* I accept credit cards; however, there is a 3% price increase for credit card purchases. Checks and cash of course..
I have reviews on Google My Business, Trip Advisor, Facebook, SquareUp and Yelp (Yelp does take reviews down from people who don't use the app much). I'm not a fan of social media, it all scares me. I'm just a person, not a store or company.
I had a 90 minute massage with Carol and it was awesome!
